(x^2-x-6)/(x^2+7x+10)

When the denominator is zero, you divide by zero so the roots of that polynomial are excluded. They are x=-5 and x=-2, as can be found using the abc quadratic formula or by factoring.

If you factor numerator and denominator you can rewrite as:


((x+2)(x-3))/((x+5)(x+2)) = (x-3)/(x+5)
