You have to consider your audience in order to decide what type of writing you're going to do, possibly what arguments to make, and what style to write your piece in. Who you are writing for really makes your writing what it is.

Your audience is one of the most important factors to consider while writing. Based on your audience, the shape and form, as well as topics and arguments of your writing are going to change. You are not going to write the same text for children and for academics - different types of audiences require different types of writings.
