m(m+3)=108
m^2+3m-108=0
(m-9)(m+12)=0
m=9 m=-12
m=9 is the only one positive

n and m are numbers 3 units apart
n + 3 = m
n = m - 3
Product:
m(m-3) = 108 (ANSWER)
m^2 - 3m - 108 = 0
(m-12)(m+9)=0
m = 12(greates) and -9(void)
n = m - 3
n = 12 - 3
n = 9
therefore the two numbers are 9 and 12
