5x7 is 35 minus 4 is 31
2x7 is 14 plus 17 is also 31

3b - 4 = 17 subtract 2b on each side of the equal sign
3b = 21
add 4 on each side of the equal sign
b = 7 divide by 3 each side of the equal sign
