This was a practice mostly among Chinese and Japanese cultures that was a way to change the shape of the foot. This practice started when a girl was very young and tight material would be wrapped around the girl's feet. This was called lotus feet. Also, this was a way of showing status wealthy families would and the women's feet who did not really need their feet to work. If you need to see what it looks like just look up a picture.
