If you plot the brightness vs color (or spectral type or temperature) for stars the result is a scatter plot. But a plot of Luminosity vs color (or spectral type ortemperature) is called a Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram and shows some interestingsequences.

Answer:

Absolute magnitudes or luminosities and stellar classifications or colour

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph was created by Henry Norris Russell and Ejnar Hertzsprung around 1910. It is a scatter plot of stars showing the relationships of the following:

Left side of the diagram gives the luminosity the right side gives the Absolute magnitude, the top gives the Spectral classification and the bottom gives the color.

The plots are called color–magnitude diagram (CMD).
