The Ukranian Holodomor of 1932–33 refers to the period during which seven million Ukrainians were murdered by starvation.

Holodomor is the name that the mass starvation in the Ukrainian Famine of 1932-33 received. This event occured between the Russian Revolution and the Second World War. The number human toll resulted from the famine varies between historians, ranging from 3 million to 14 million dead.

Many parties in modern Ukraine want to define the Holodomor as an act of genocide, while Russia today opposes that point of view, as well as many modern historians.
