Consumers get their food from the sun in a way as well because energy is neither created nor destroyed so therefore the energy that the producer got from the sun was passed to the consumer when the producer was eaten.

Producers get their energy from the sun, which they turn into food. Consumers eat these producers. So basically, consumers get their food from other sources of energy that got their energy from the food. Think of it this way : Sun -> Producers (plants) -> Consumers (animals)
