Why did Europeans settle in the English colonies

Well I know that they were familiar with the English the language and and seeked religious freedom from religious prosecution, they also wanted wealth and land.

Efficient economic activity meant the colonists had good relations with the local Indians and fair weather to deal with; unsuccessful colonies economically showed their inability to deal with harsh weather conditions, swampy forests, foreign soil, and that they didn't use the advantage of gaining knowledge of the new land from the tribes they chose not to get along with.
