Great Zimbabwe is a ruined city in the south-eastern hills of Zimbabwe near Lake Mutirikwe and the town of Masvingo. It functioned as the capital of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe during the country's Late Iron Age.
The Kingdom of Zimbabwe was a medieval BaKalanga kingdom located in modern-day Zimbabwe. Its capital, Lusvingo, now known as Great Zimbabwe, constittutes the largest stone structure in precolonial Southern Africa.
