Britney traveled from the school to the mall and then from the mall to the library. Alice traveled directly from the school to the library. How many more miles did Britney travel than Alice?

Britney:
School to Mall is 10 units
Mall to Library is 24 units
In total, 10 + 24 = 34, Britney traveled 34 units.

Alice:
School to Library is ___ units.
Using the Pythagorean Theorem, you can find the distance
a^2 + b^2 = c^2 this is the formula
10^2 + 24^2 = c^2 square the 10 and 24
100 + 576 = c^2 add the two values
676 = c^2 square root both sides
26 = c
School to Library is 26 units.

34 - 26 = 8 units
Britney traveled 8 units more than Alice.
Just multiply the 8 units by how many miles there are in 1 unit and you will find your answer.
