The Roman Colosseum was started to be built in 70 AD, and it officially opened in 80 AD. The Romans wanted to increase their prestige, but also to make their people happy. One way of doing that was of building a huge Colosseum. The finished building was like an amphitheater, with seats around a central point. It was also used to hold meetings and other types of plays that didn't include fighting, like drama.

Have a nice day! :)
