Adiabatic means that the water vapor in the sky will cool by EXPANSION and heat from CONTRACTION. This is a process in thermodynamics. When this happens there is no new heat or matter transferred within the system and its surroundings. This is the reason why molecules within this process only transform its energy into work hence, they either contract or expand while reacting to their environment.
