The Letter from Birmingham is an open letter written on April 16, 1963, by Martin Luther King Jr. This letter was part of the Birmingham Campaign. A movement organized in 1963 by a Christian leadership to bring attention to the integration of African Americans in the city. The main reason of the letter was to defend the strategy of nonviolence strategy in order to gain rights to the African american community and to combat racism.
