you would solve for x. do do that you would go in the opposite order of the order of operations.

3x-8=-2
+8 +8
3x=6
/3 /3
x=2

since it asks for what is x-6 you would just do 2-6 and your answer would be -4

If 3x-8=-2, find the value if x-6
