The main characters in the book Bridge to Terabithia are Jess Oliver Aarons, Jr and Leslie Burke. The main problem is Jess's low self-esteem, he has high expectations, and thinks lowly of himself. Upon meeting Leslie and creating Terabithia, Jesse finds strength and courage. He sets a goal of being the fastest kid in the fifth grade to give himself identity, glory and purpose.
