Kathy Raven, who lives in the state of Virginia, is a typical American parent of a typical television- watching child. She says she should monitor the new rating system to see if it works. She firmly believes that there is a need for some kind of system to give parents a guide as to what their children watch. "Right now there is nothing. So parents are at a loss. Who can keep track of all of these shows that come on TV? Every couple of months, there are new shows. Unless you are watching TV yourself, do you know what's on it? So that is a step in the right direction."
