Hi!
Here are some facts about the Great Depression:
1.Herbert Hoover was the president when the Great Depression began. He made the mistake in 1930 of telling Americans that the worst was over. He was very wrong.
2.Approximately 1.5 million men abandoned their families during the Great Depression, leaving wives and children with no income or support.
3.Many people who lost their homes during the Great Depression lived in shanty towns. These towns were also often called Hoovervilles. The food served in soup kitchens was sometimes referred to as Hoover stew.
Hope it helps and have a wonderful day!
