If it says half of the number of peas then you would have to divided the number of peas by 2 p÷2 and then you would have to take away 4 because it said four less than half the number -4 and the expression would be p ÷ 2 - 4

Answer:

c = (1/2)p - 4 same as c = (p - 8)/2

Explanation:

Given;

number of carrots, c, is four less than half the number of peas, p.

This means that 4 added to the number of carrots will make up to half the number of peas. This expression can be represented as;

c + 4 = (1/2)p

The number of carrots in terms of the number of peas can be represented by the expression;

c = (1/2)p - 4 = (p - 8)/2
