Since this is an inequality, there may be several, or even infinite solutions.

You know y + 7 must be greater than 24. If we remove 7 from both sides of the inequality, y must be greater than 17.

From here you can choose any value you want that is greater than 17 and it will make the inequality true. Whole number, fraction, decimal, etc.
