What is the difference between a hidden virus and an active virus?

An active virus starts reproducing in host cells immediately, causing the host to have symptoms. A hidden virus stays hidden in the cells of the host, and does not start reproducing and causing symptoms until some time later

a hidden virus can be very difficult to find, and they can have a hard time showing that it is a virus... But and active virus grows very rapidly and you can get very sick, you could become contagious as well. With an active virus you can tell that you are sick; but with a hidden virus it is very hard to tell...
