Let f(x)=2x^2−1.

The quadratic function g(x) is f(x) translated left 2 units.

If we begin with f(x)=2x^2−1 and graph this quadratic, and then translate the entire graph 2 units to the left, we get g(x) = 2(x+2)^2 -1.

Were it 4 units to the left, then h(x) = 2(x+4)^2 - 1 (example only)
