the definition for it is a follower. the twelve disciples were also called apostles and they are the followers of Jesus christ. you  don't have to physically follow Jesus christ but follow him every single day by praying keeping his commandments and basically surrendering yourself to him(Jesus christ) and the apostles were also called Christian   hope I helped
