How did darwin’s ideas differ from lamarck’s?

Basically, Lamarck's theory postulates that traits acquired by organisms are inherited to their descendants: While Darwin's theory postulates that randomly acquired traits in organisms are selected by pressures in the environment. Traits that are best fit to the environment survive and get passed on
