This refers to the efforts made by Americans at home to contribute to the war as well as the way the war impacted the daily lives of American citizens. Americans worked more hours to make supplies for the war effort and make American women began working in heavy industries such as steel, ship and airplane factories. Americans were required to ration supplies needed of the war so they had to consume less food and fuel. African American and other minority groups contributed to the war by working in factories or serving in the military despite facing discrimination and segregation in both US and in the military.
Hope this helped :)
