Odysseus tells the cyclops that his name is "Nobody", so when he and his comrades begin to hurt him in an attempt to free themselves, the monster screams out "Nobody is hurting me!" causing Polyphemus's fellow cyclops friends to think nothing of his screams for help. This shows off how clever and quick Odysseus is.
