In a power ball lottery, 5 numbers between 1 and 12 inclusive are drawn. These are the winning numbers. How many different selections are possible? Assume that the order in which the numbers are drawn is not important.

There are 96 different selections possible. If you begin with a one then 2,3,4,5 then you again begin with a one and follow with 3,4,5,6 etc... you will get 8 possible selections. Then you could also begin with one again and follow with 2,4,5,6 but that makes it complicated. You don't have to do all those combination 'cause they will be done if you do the same as i showed in the brginning but instead you begin with a 2. So for every number you can make 8 different selections and you have 12 numbers and 8•12=96.
