Fungi are important, natural alternative (biocontrol agents) at the same time effective at reducing chemical or pesticide use in farming. The negative impacts of chemical pesticides changed the attention towards increased emphasis on biological control agents with respect to using fungi by utilizing of naturally occurring pathogens of arthropods. Also, fungi are extremely useful for controlling insect pests of crops (using its spores); thereby providing a cheaper method that is less damaging to the environment than using chemical pesticides.
