The roots are
(3 +/- √(41))/(4).

You can find the roots of any quadratic using the following equation.

\frac{-b +/- \sqrt{b^(2)- 4ac}}{2a}

Now we can place each of the values in their respective spots.

\frac{3 +/- \sqrt{-3^(2)- 4(2)(-4)}}{2(2)}

(3 +/- √(9 + 32))/(4)

(3 +/- √(41))/(4)

Then these are your roots.
