Why do scientists use radioactive decay to determine the age of fossils?

Because it gives them their answer in about two days unlike other ways of finding out the age which could take weeks

Carbon- 14 has a half- life of 5,730 years. scientists determine the ages of once-living things by measuring the amount of carbon-14 in the material.
