Answer: Spontaneous prose.

Jack Kerouac was an American novelist and poet considered a pioneer of the Beat Generation. He is particularly well-known for his method of "spontaneous prose," of which "The Railroad Earth" is an example. Kerouac died in 1969 as a result of a lifetime of heavy drinking. His works include The Town and the City, On the Road, Doctor Sax, The Dharma Bums, Mexico City Blues, The Subterraneans, Desolation Angels, Visions of Cody, The Sea Is My Brother, and Big Sur.
