New York City is an urban community. Urban areas are generally very developed and have an abundance of roads, houses, and commercial buildings. Urban areas are also generally have a high population density. A suburban area refers the the places on the outskirts of the city or the urban area. Then a rural community is usually located completely outside cities and have relatively low population densities.
