African Colonies aided European nations supplying them with soldiers during the war. After the war ended, many residents from these territories were inspired by President Woodrow Wilson's "14 points" speech in 1918 about open trade and democracy. This led to a series of revolutionary movements throughout Africa that were continuously suppressed after the end of the First World War.
