Genghis Khan was nine years old when his father took him on a journey to find him a wife. More precisely, his father had already arranged for Genghis Khan (Temüjin) to marry a ten-year-old girl from the tribe of Khongirad. The deal was for Ghengis to work for this family until he turns twelve when he is allowed to get married.
