The purpose of the clean air act is to reduce the air pollution emitted by things such as cars or by factories. It was first implemented in 1955, but was revised three times to address important issues. It is becoming more and more important as times go by due to the global warming and the greenhouse effect. It is different from what the European laws are and is in some aspects more severe and in some is less.
