Working with loss and bereavement has a high potential for burnout. before workers engage in grief work with others, they must first take care of themselves by maintaining their vitality, failure to do so can result as vicarious traumatization.

Thi is all very true. Carl Jung wrote many times that he felt a therapist would have their own physical mental and spiritual needs fulfilled before they try to engage a patient. as part of this he thought that all therapists should be married so there is less chance that they will fall for a patient.
