Firtly, we'll say what a fracture compartment is. It happens when excessive pressure is built inside an enclosed muscles. It is usually the result from bleeding or swelling, right after the injury.
Of course the compartment syndrome can occur without bone fractures, it can be: crush injury, burns, tight bandaging, extremely vigorous exercise etc.
