capitalism promotes free trade and free market while mercantilism limits the trade between countries so that more money is entering the country than out. Merchants will have a larger selection of what to sell under capitalism and unregulated sales.

Answer:

c. they would be able to grow their businesses and profit from them without government limitations.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is the answer that most accurately expresses a benefit of capitalism over mercantilism. Both capitalism and mercantilism can have government limitations. However, the limitations of mercantilism are usually stricter, as the emphasis is placed in keeping a country's capital within that country. On the other hand, capitalism allows for free enterprise and more active trade.
