Does anyone know what 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 is because I keep getting 32 1/2, but the answer is 38 1/2? If you know, please explain.

By the way how can I put questions for only 5 points?

These steps may help you out!

8 1/2 = 17/2

4 1/2 = 9/2

To get this you do⬆8(2) =16 + 1 = 17/2 ; 4(2) = 8 + 1 = 9/2

Change the problem to:

17/2 (9/2)

17(9)/2(2) = ?


So, 17(9) / 2(2) = 153 / 4

153 / 4 as a mixed fraction/number: 38 1/4
