Why do flowers have more than one stamn

Do you mean stamens? If so, actually the answer is that sperm is an abundant manufacture for a flower. That's why there is sooo much pollen everywhere in the spring! And all this pollen is to fertilize a limited amount of eggs.

They have more then one stem because the seed brakes into roots and create more stems
