Apartheid was legal segregation in South Africa. It affected black Africans in many ways. One way apartheid affected South Africa is that black Africans and white Africans could not marry. Interracial marriage was illegal. Black Africans could not vote and had less of a say in government. They were mistreated by white Africans.
