If the customer purchased the bicycle and it was 85% of the original price that means it was 15% off. We multiply $165 by 15% or 0.15 to find out the how much money was taken off. 165 multiplied by 0.15 equals 24.75. That is how much money was taken from the original price to get to 165. So when we add the two together we get the end result, or how much the bike costed originally. 165+ 24.75= 189.75. The bike originally costed $189.75 or $190, if you round to the nearest dollar.
