Since the earrings costs $34.80, they fall into the second category and will receive a discount of 7.5%. We have to find 7.5% of $34.80 and minus it from $34.80 to find the discounted price. To find 7.5% of $34.80, we can simply multiply the two by each other. We get 261. But we have to add the decimal and the decimal will go in between the 2 and the 6. So we have $2.61, that id how much money is taken off of the earrings. $34.80- $2.61= $32.19. That is the price of the discounted earrings.
If the math above is too hard, another way to figure a problem like this out is to divide the price (34.80) by 100 and then multiply by the percent of discount it will incur (7.5). This way, they give you the decimal. Both ways you get the same answer...
$32.19
