In most states, DNA samples are routinely collected from those persons who have been convicted of felonies. Eighteen states, however, collect DNA from persons who have only been arrested for committing a crime. Why might civil libertarians frown on such policies?

Taking DNA Samples of Arrestees is a highly controversial topic as An arrestee is a person arrestedfor a crime and who has not yet been convicted for that offense. the state's CODIS DNA database (SDIS) to see if the person has a criminal of collecting DNA from felons arrested for crimes of violence and burglaries.
