If the light colored moths were better adapted to the light colored trunks of the trees. Why were dark colored moths still present in the population?

because of reproduction , theres traits some will be dark but most will be light coloured its just the gene flow...

They are still present because moths do not only hide on trees. They can hide on bushes, buildings, etc. I hope this helped ^^
