Do you think young Amercains should be required to do community service?

They, technically,already are, because they need to do community service in order to pass high-school. But, if you're asking if they should do community service, or more of it, than yes. There is a lot of greed in the world and a lot of people could use some help. They don't really have to help people, they can help animals, or if they go to church, then they can help their church. It is a natural human behavior to want to help, and society has ruined a lot of that. So, yes young Americans should be doing community service, so it can better the world and themselves.

I think that all people should be encouraged to perform community service. There are everlasting benefits of giving back. However, being that we live in a free country I don't think that you can require community service. If the service was required there would be many people giving service in areas that they are not considerate of. You could have someone who dislikes animals volunteering at a pet shelter simply because they are required to. While I think that everyone should perform service I don't think it should be required.
