Fungi is a very simple eukaryotic organism. Unlike plants and some protists, fungi is a consumer. This example lives in/on a tree. How is this fungus consuming food in the picture?

The hyphae, or feeding structures, reach deep into the wood to obtain nutrients. Fungi do not have roots and they do not make their own food. The hyphae absorb nutrients directly through their cell walls.
