How did activist groups work to help cure social problems in the 1980s?

The people were tired of their issues, of having high taxes, the nuclear weapon freeze that may explode anytime. The discontent on the system led them to mobilize millions of people coming from the Christian groups to high tax opposition groups. They all united to fight for the issues they are experiencing.
