Medieval art is a stage in the history of art that covers a long period for an enormous spatial extension. The Middle Ages -from the 5th century to the 15th century- represent more than a thousand years of art in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Medieval art was expressed in very different media through different artistic disciplines, techniques and genres: architecture, sculpture, silversmithing, illustrated manuscripts (miniature and calligraphy), frescoes, table painting, mosaics, and a long etcetera, in which include arts and crafts not usually included in the fine arts, such as the making of medieval clothing.
