- 3/6 - 5/7

We have to get both fractions to have the same denominator, so we multiply fraction 1 by 7/7 and fraction 2 by 6/6

So now, we have -21/42 - 30/42

Since we have the same denominator (the bottom number), all we have to do is look at the numerators, (top numbers) and add them.

So, we do -21 - 30, which equals -51.

So, our answer is -51 / 42

It is an improper fraction, so we turn it into a mixed number.

So, our new answer is -1 9/42

However, that can be simplified.

Now, it is -1 3/14

It is pronounced as "negative one and three fourteenths."
